The Glorious Games is a musical production for Key Stage 2 students that tells the story of the Olympic Games. The musical is set in ancient Greece and follows the journey of a group of athletes as they prepare for the games.

The story begins with the Herald of the Games announcing the start of the Olympic Games. The athletes are excited to compete and show off their skills. The first song, ‘The Glorious Games’, sets the tone for the rest of the musical, with a lively and upbeat melody that captures the excitement of the athletes.

The athletes are introduced one by one, each with their own unique personality and skill set. There is the wrestler, the runner, the discus thrower, and the javelin thrower, among others. The athletes are all eager to win, but they also support each other and work together as a team.

About Alison Carver

Alison studied music at university, followed by postgraduate studies in London and Manchester. She spent several years working as an orchestral percussionist, pianist and theatre musical director. During this time, she began composing children’s music and was commissioned to write songs for BBC Television and Radio.

Now working in primary music education, Alison writes songs and musicals for the children that she teaches. She is able to draw upon her experience as a professional musician to create music of character that is varied and appealing, aimed to give pleasure to performers and audience alike!
